How Do I Get Started?

Quitting tobacco is a process. Whether you are thinking about quitting, are not yet ready to quit, or have already quit, Colorado QuitLine can help you with each step of the way.

The Program

The Colorado QuitLine is a FREE online service available to Colorado residents 15 years of age and over. When you become a member, you get special tools, a support team of coaches, research-based information, and a community of others trying to become tobacco free. Our expert coaches can talk to you about overcoming common barriers, such as dealing with stress, fighting cravings, coping with irritability, and controlling weight gain.

We also offer a free telephone service, so you can speak to a coach in person, if you'd prefer. Through the telephone program you can receive a free supply of patches too. If you would like the free nicotine patches, you can call the QuitLine at 1-800-QUIT-NOW. Coaches will determine if you are eligible to receive the patches.

What if I don't qualify for the Program?

You must be 15 years of age or older to participate in the program. If you want free nicotine patches, you must be 18 years of age or older. In addition to the Colorado QuitLine, we encourage people under the age of 18 to visit our web site, www.ownyourc.com developed specifically for Colorado teens. It may also be helpful to discuss quitting with your doctor.

How do I enroll in the online QuitLine program only?

Step 1. Complete the What Kind of Smoker Are You quiz and get tailored information emailed to you. This is the first part of enrolling. With this information, we begin to create quit tips and information for you.

Step 2. Complete the brief Enroll Now form. If you are a Colorado resident over 15 years of age, you will receive an email letting you know that you are enrolled. You can use the online service as often as you want!

How do I enroll in both the online and telephone program?

Step 1. Complete the What Kind of Smoker Are You quiz and get tailored information emailed to you. This is the first part of enrolling. With this information, we begin to create quit tips and information for you.

Step 2. Complete the brief Enroll Now form. If you qualify, you will receive an email letting you know that you are enrolled. You can use the online service as often as you want!

Step 3. While completing the Enroll Now form you can select an appointment time for a coach to give you a call.  If you would like, you can call the QuitLine at 1-800-QUIT-NOW.  If you call when we are closed, leave a message and we will call you back to set up a time to talk.  When you speak with your coach we will begin your coaching program, and see if you are eligible for nicotine patches or gum.
